Hybrid Car Models The Green Alternative

new car hybridThere are presently many hybrid car models in the market. The hybrid car technology has become very popular that almost all car makers would like to ride the trend. Other manufacturers that cannot produce their own technology are buying technology from big companies that are ahead in the development of hybrid cars. Some companies are having a tie up with other companies so that they will come up with good models that they could use together.

Toyota’s Offering
Later, Toyota introduced the Toyota Prius in the US. Presently, this model is the most popular hybrid car in the market. The Toyota Prius has a very efficient EPA rating and it has the lowest emission rating of up to 90 percent reduction compared to a regular vehicle. The good news is that the price of Toyota Prius can compete very well with the other cars of its type. It is actually the first hybrid car that was mass-produced.

Toyota Motors have high hopes with the future of hybrid vehicles. Not only was it evident in the research and development that they put into the famous Toyota Prius. They proved the sincerity of this belief by introducing other models of the SUV line. They introduced to the market the Highlander hybrid and Lexus SUV hybrid in the year 2005.

Honda’s First Hybrid Car Models
Honda first released Insight in the year 1999. They were the first car maker to offer hybrid electric car in the USA. This model has gained a little popularity in the first five years that it was on the market. It was designed to be very fuel efficient so it was built with a lightweight aluminum chassis. It was a two-seater vehicle. Honda Insight Hybrid was an environment friendly model. Aside from being fuel efficient, it was made to produce very low emission. There was an earlier version of this model that was released in Japan and Los Angeles in 1997.

Honda vs. Toyota
Honda being threatened by the popularity of the Toyota hybrids introduced to the market their new model of a hybrid car that will compete with the very popular Toyota Prius. Honda launched a hybrid version of the Civic model. The hybrid model of Civic was known to be 30% more efficient than the non-hybrid Civic. Like the original model, the Civic hybrid is a four-door sedan that accommodates 5 passengers. The hybrid model looks very much like the non-hybrid counterpart but it was the hood that was modified. It was changed to become a lighter vehicle in order to be able to run efficiently on the electric power. Summing it all up, the Civic became popular but not as popular as the Toyota Prius which up to now is a favorite.

Nissan’s Attempt to Join the Hybrid World
Nissan bought the hybrid technology of Toyota and they were able to produce the Nissan Altima Hybrid. This model gained a lot of good reviews. It is not very surprising when you take into account the popularity of Toyota Prius. But still, the Altima Hybrid is yet to make a name.

Ford’s Hybrid Lines
Being one of the biggest names in the car-making world, Ford Motors will not be left behind in the hybrid trend. Ford offered the Ford Escape hybrid to the market. It is another fully hybrid vehicle that was to make a name in the hybrid market. Another model that Ford Motors introduced was the Mercury Mariner Hybrid although it did not became as popular as the Ford Escape Hybrid.

GM in the Hybrid Picture
Another model of hybrid vehicles is the Dodge Ram Hybrid. This model did not become very popular. Daimler Chrysler, the mother company of Dodge tied up with General Motors to produce good models of hybrid vehicles. They joined their group and produced models, some of which are the Dodge Durango Hybrid, Chevy Silverado and GM Sierra Pickups.

There are indeed many varieties of hybrid car models in the market. If hybrids are only a passing solution to the energy problem of the future, it is indeed a good solution. With the very low emission and high fuel efficiency that it provides, it can work well until another better solution comes along.

Hybrid Car Technology welcomed the upcoming

Hybrid cars are an innovative, efficient and affordable option of the present age. The gas-electric hybrid cars are designed with great precision to give a wonderful driving experience. The best thing about this technology is that it is always improving and becoming more efficient. Their remarkable features make them a practical choice for the consumers.

The prominent features of the car include a small fuel efficient gas engine, coupled with the electric motor. The motor helps the car in accelerating without the expenditure of much fuel. This electric motor is made up of chargeable batteries. These batteries are automatically charged during the drive. The energy used to charge the battery is generated during the braking process.

The upcoming modern cars have much improved in the basic principles. As far as the battery of the hybrid is concerned, the upcoming hybrid cars are thought to possess 270 volt battery with the essential battery cabling devices, rather than the regular 12 volt battery.

The technicians are concerned to introduce solar cells in the structure of the upcoming hybrid cars. In such cars, the electrical power will be created in the boot lids and bonnet position of these solar cell units. These solar cells will enable you to charge the batteries during the times when it is not in motion. By virtue of the solar cells, the upcoming hybrid cars will efficiently meet the requirements of energy for air-conditioning. It will also deliver power to the cars at the traffic signals. Moreover, certain plugs are installed for powering up the battery.

The upcoming technology hybrid cars are thought to be eco-friendly. They are expected to deal with the concerns related to the green house gases. In addition to the fuel economy, the future hybrid cars will require to address the negative effects of the harmful exhaust, emitted during the burning of fuel. Such eco-friendly hybrid cars reduce the emission of carbon dioxide and thus keep the pollution level much lower.

The upcoming hybrid cars boast to be efficient as compared to those that are presently available. The upcoming hybrid cars will give 60 mpg. Though based on the existing hybrid car technology, by the combination of the light weight materials, excellent batteries and latest methods of transferring power, the manufacturers are passionate to give something more efficient.

In addition to the power sources, the modification in the frame of the car is one of the topics of discussion. The car designers opt to introduce a rear platform design rather than the front wheel drive platform. The upcoming hybrid car designs will be related to the sport car models. These sport car designs have been famous since a long time and are being revived with the brand new hybrid engine technology. The latest body structure design will surely enable to save the energy and will make it more controllable on the highway.

The hybrid car technology promises to deliver more economical, eco-friendly and efficient upcoming versions. Many renowned automotive companies are passionate to introduce an efficient package in the market.

Technology Diesel Hybrid Cars Future

hybrid-air-conceptSeveral years ago hybrid cars would rarely be seen in roads and freeways. But as more people noticed and realized the great advantages this eco-friendly cars offer, and the savings they get, more and more hybrid cars are now plying our roads. So much so that hybrid cars are now as mainstream as the conventional engine cars that we got used to. But, it wouldn’t be a surprise if new developments and innovations come out to further develop the existing hybrid technology or to provide new technologies.

Many stories and rumors has circulated in the motor world of different discoveries and concepts that can further revolutionize the hybrid technology in motor vehicles, but many questions have also arisen on why some certain pre-existing technology have not been incorporated with the hybrid innovation. This includes the diesel hybrid concept.

Diesel engines have been vastly popular in Europe and Asia. While North America have not embraced the diesel engine as much as their overseas neighbors, developments have been made in the United States to eliminate the characteristics which have made it a poor choice here. Recent developments have eliminated the excessive smoke generated and the loud rattling noises of the engines. Additionally, biodiesel fuel has had a growing following and is seen as a solution to save the depletion of natural resources like oil. Combining hybrid technology and the new biodiesel fuel seems to be a better solution to our growing problems. Biodiesel is now cleaner and is also cheaper than regular gasoline.

hybrid-energy-monitor While there have been no serious research and development done on diesel hybrid cars just yet, Ford has released a diesel hybrid concept car at the North Auto American Auto show in Detroit last January 10, 2006. Ford dubbed it as the Reflex sportscar. This is a car that is infused with a power source that uses a combination of a diesel engine, an electric motor and solar panels. Also, the Ford Reflex is all wheel drive car that Ford claims gets 65 miles to a gallon.

The Reflex, which could be the basis for future diesel hybrid cars operates much the same way as gas/electric hybrid cars. It also has a hybrid battery pack to provide backup power to the car that gets recharged by the engine and the heat generated by braking. The diesel Hybrid car by Ford uses lithium-ion batteries, the same kind used by the latest gadgets today, like cellular phones and portable computers. Most hybrid cars use nickel-metal hydrite batteries because they are far more cheaper, but lithium-ion batteries have far more power capacity.

But the Reflex also extracts power from solar cells located inside the headlamps and taillight. This is a technology patented by Ford. There are also solar cells placed in the roof of the car that provides power to fans that operates inside the car to cool the interior when it is parked under the hot sun.

We can only wait until hybrid diesel car technology is more available. Until then, we can wait until diesel fuel can provide the same power as gasoline fuel. But when the technology is refined, we can all be sure that diesel hybrid cars will surely catch on and we will be seeing it more often.
